Covenants are private arrangements between property owners. They sit outside the unitary plan i.e. the Resource Management Act. Covenants are registered on title under the Property Law Act and the Land Transfer Act. For further discussion, see video below:

  • Private covenants could be changed with mutual agreement between the relevant parties.
