Special Character Area (SCA)
SCAs are one of the ‘qualifying matters’ that Auckland Council is proposing in the upcoming unitary plan changes. What are the SCA and how are these being incorporated in the upcoming unitary plan changes? See the video below.
Key messages:
- Auckland Council has signalled that it wishes to propose SCA as one of the ‘qualifying matters’ i.e. areas where higher density development enabled by the Medium Density Residential Standards (MDRS) will, no some form, limited.
- The areas affected by SCA are located mostly in the central parts of Auckland, including Parnell, Ponsonby, Remuera, Grey Lynn, Herne Bay, Mt Eden, Balmoral.
- SCA affect block or areas of the above mentioned (and similar other) suburbs.
